This book is great, all around! It has a wide variety of fun and useful games and activities for all ages, But it also provides many lessons, rooted in experience, about building and sharing restorative justice approaches in communities. This book can help you transform your own community!
A+ Pedagogists Pointer & McGoey demonstrate restorative teaching tools with a smart, crisp & helpful book. Their methodology for a new restorative learning community demonstrates the pearls of true wisdom that solves problems. Loaded with gracious acknowledgements to the context of the movement, it is very well written. This accessible book met my needs & provided me with a greater window of tolerance. I was facing group discord & was feeling trapped into being punitive. However, after reading this book I had a liberating experience. I now want to face the group's problems & address them “with" the group. Thank you for the relevant real life examples. -Community Activist Suzanne Balliett
This book is an excellent overview of how to design effective trainings about restorative practices (RP). LBRTT takes an experiential approach in how to facilitate a training, considers critical and feminist pedagogy, and the need for facilitators to be aware of and address identities in the room, including their own. There are multiple games provided that include precise directions, objectives, and questions for debriefing the activity. I'm looking forward to incorporating these ideas into my teaching and with trainings I facilitate.
