To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I handle a variety of types of cards each week. These particular cards do not appear to be of the type and quality that will survive repeated use over time. They are thin, with sharp 90 degree-angled corners (devoid of beveling). One corner bent immediately upon removal from the deck. In fact, the whole deck was curved, presumably since it was first inserted into a package that, now that the cards have been removed from their cellophane wrapper, no longer easily fits them. After repeated failed attempts to reinsert the deck, I discovered that the deck case has a raised lip where the cardboard overlaps along the bottom. That lip prevents the cards from sitting flush once they've been initially removed.
My resourceful husband found a clean, empty plastic tomatoes-on-the-vine container to house the deck since the box is useless. He is now working on drawing a humorous label to affix to the lid, no doubt depicting the anxiety-inducing packaging debacle he witnessed when I repeatedly tried and failed to re-box the bent, flimsy cards.
I discovered this deck when I was checking for the release date for the paperback edition of Dr. Brewer's latest book (after listening to a library copy of the e-audiobook). This deck may tide me over until then, if it lasts that long. But it's definitely not worth the price of a paperback book--save your cash and wait.
