What an amazing story, human world get ravaged by spirits from another plane who broke through the gate and voraciously consumed human souls. Charu, MMC-no nonsense, gruff and gatekeeper to the underworld is on the hunt to gather all wulkwos who have escaped and remove them from the humans they have inhabited. Stumbling upon Meredith, FMC a fragile human who Charu wishes he could leave behind, but he just can’t help breaking all his rules for and allows her on his quest.

Great world building and well round characters.
Some editing problems(missed words and badly worded sentences) . When there was only 25% of the book left, it just dragged. The H and the h finally have their moment and the te book just becomes a chore to get through.

I see this story as the gates of hell bending and demons /deities escaping and causing havoc. Meredith is a human hiding and trying to keep herself safe from the escaped demons but of course some crazy one wants her. It's where she meets Charu we can call him the gate keeper police who has to bring back these mischievous demons. The story is soft but keeps you wondering are they ever going to get these demons across the gates to where they belong? Well all I'm going to say is that I loved this book and found myself crying.
This author always brings it! I love her writing and the way she soothes my need for fictional reading!!!

This was a very serious book by S.J. Sanders and was wonderful. Using the ancient Etruscan Underworld myths for a background we see earth overrun by evil. I never give away a plot when I review but the main character is written in a way that makes you want her to survive through her ordeal. As the horror of the world becomes clearer you also hope she can trust the frightening demon who spares her life for a reason neither of them understands. Must read.

I loved the writing in this book but I basically love everything this author writes. That being said I didn't care for the horror part to much. The ending gave me goosebumps lol. That's how you know it's well written though so I didn't take any stars away because that's just my personal preference. I don't really know how to describe the love story. It's kind of a slow burn but kinda not. It catches both characters by surprise. If you love odd love stories mixed with some horror in there than this is for you. I liked it but didn't love it because horror just isn't my thing.

Another great story by this author! I couldn’t put it down and I’m looking forward to reading more from this world the author has built. Dystopian world building, well fleshed out characters, and a HEA. I loved the wit of the heroine and the grumpy (but ultimately sweet) ‘hero.’ Definitely recommend!

I normally jump on books by this author fairly quickly, but I am a little slow to get on board with darker books. I really have to be in the right mood for it, since I am usually an over-the-top humor and fairy tale happy ending kinda gal. Thankfully this book wasn’t too dark, though I was kinda cringy over the insanity stuff. Those were the times I usually went and read something else for a while to balance things out.

The characters were good, and I found charu an intriguing character. He started off as a tough nut to crack and I wondered how the author was going to get them together in a remotely believable fashion since he seemed to prefer killing anything in his path. Somehow she did it, and I got my happy ending. I could have used a little time with them together-together, but otherwise I have no serious complaints. The editing was fairly good with less noticeable errors than older books.

I am also intrigued by the idea of another book in the series, though overall I am more excited for more mate index books.

Wow. Just wow. This author is amazing with this beautiful story and world-building. I hope Turon finds her own love and can’t wait to read more from this author. I usually do not review books but I had to with this one. It might be disguised as a thriller romance, but the concept and myth and truth behind it is fascinating and lovely.

I think this is the best book by the author so far. Might even be accused of being actual literature instead of just entertainment ;-) Don't worry though, there's plenty of romance action too. Being a fan of ancient myths I found the Etruscan take on the Underworld fascinating as it predates the all familiar Roman culture. Thank you, S.J. Sanders for giving me a spark to read a bit more into it!

The story is well defined, proceeds at a good pace and interesting. Charu is a dedicated professional and a charming grump at first, bewildered about his actions concerning Meredith. But when he falls for her, there is no useless back and forth but dedication to Meredith. I like Meredith's no-nonsense personality, she is brave but not stupidly so. Does what needs to be done without ninnying about it. The escaped spirits make all the hardship needed for a balanced lovestory. Excellent reading!
