This book is awesome! I’ve been playing guitar for 33 almost 34yrs & had taken lessons with two different teachers between 24-26yrs ago as well as Music Theory in High School & 1 day in college & thus have forgotten almost everything I had ever learned in regards to Music Theory. I’m on the 1st set of scales Interpolation of One Note & while I’m working on the fingering I’ve decided I’m gonna have to go back and actually read the 16 or 17 pages of text leading up to these scales so that I know what they are. I can also read music super super slowly & do not fully understand time. If I were leading from sheet music I would have to transcribe the notes into letters above the ledger & play it from there. However, this book is done in both music & guitar tablature which is absolutely Awesome! I’ve only been working on the 1st scale in the book & I already love it. I fully intend to practice “unplugged” every single night from here forward. I’ll likely play plugged in during the work day on breaks/lunch etc as well. Even after over 30yrs I am still super stoked that there is so much more for me to remember, learn & relearn & I am just as excited about it as I was the day I learned to play the first thing that made sense when I was just 7 or 8yrs old.
I ordered this rather esoteric book for my musician husband as it was highly recommended by none other than Quincy Jones, musician/composer/arranger and legend. Read Quincy's interview in Esquire and he raves that he owes his genius to his study of this particular book when he was just starting his musical career. My husband loves this book. I want to note that Amazon quickly corrected a shipping snafu for me. Apparently the shipping label for my order was placed on the wrong package and I received a retractable clothesline instead of the book. I wrote to Amazon to explain that the shipping label matched my order but the package contents did not match my order. I received a replacement book the very next day! Thank you Amazon for fast customer service. I wonder if the person who ordered the clothesline was equally puzzled when they opened their package to find a Thesaurus of Scales and Melodic Patterns.
Excellent study guide for guitar players. Based on the original piano version, this brings the material to the average guitarist who might have trouble dealing with the grand staff. Includes tablature so even non-readers can work through the concepts
Arrived quickly and in perfect shape. Nice to have this in the guitar tab version. It looks like the guitar tab version of this book is only a small part of the original complete version, but I'm happy to have it anyway.
