I liked the setting & characters & their interactions- even with the characters that were not nice people, and would have given this book 5 stars for an enjoyable light read, if not for the fact it seemed as if it had not been proofread at all. It was rife with typos, incorrect word used (sometimes you could tell what was meant, but a similar word which does not mean same was used), and sentences that were missing words, or had words that should not have been there. Sometimes I felt the author might have started to say something one way, then decided to re-word it and not removed quite all the original words. Surely, these things happen now and then, and a couple might be expected to slip by, but this book was rife with these errors to the point it was annoying and interfering. I so hate it when an author is blessed with the gift of good storytelling and it is ruined by this sort of thing. As it was, I really would have given it 3.5, rather than a 4. Personally, I wish the missing document had turned up at the very last minute, proving grandfather had been right all along-and setting all the obnoxious parties back on their heels- that would have really been a big hea imo. but otherwise, I liked all of how the story unrolled.
