4.0 out of 5 starsLeona and Aldwin
Reviewed in the United States on May 19, 2017
I enjoyed this medieval novel. The story of Aldwin and Leona is tender and a struggle. He is on a mission to recover the ruby pendant for Lord Geoffrey. Leona is Lord Ransley's daughter. She has set up a meeting with Lord Geoffrey's man to claim the money for the pendant. Aldwin kidnaps Leona with the ruby pendant to take her to his Lordship. She fights him all the way there. So begins the rough and tumble journey of Aldwin and Leona.

The history in this novel is superb. I felt like I was there with the characters. The characters are well drawn. The plot and subplots are tied up nice and tight. There is no cliffhanger at the end of the story. I look forward to the next book. This novel contains a steamy love scene.

I found this installment to be somewhat unbelievable. Lady Leona was supposed to have learned her fighting skills from her brother Ward. However from the age of 8, after nearly dying from multiple bee stings, she did not reside with him. She lived with her uncle and aunt who saved her life. Anyway how did a Lady in the 12th century become so adept? Also she wanted to buy special shoes for the cooks daughter to straighten her crooked legs. Really?. In the 12th century? The actual story tried to cram too much in and was all over the place. This wasn't terrible and I want to read the next book to see if it gets back on track.

4.0 out of 5 stars review of a knight's temptation

What a wonderful story from Ms. Catherine Kean! I really liked this book better than the knight’s persuasion but still both books are very good. The story had a lot of non-stop action, very interesting plot twists, quite a few deceptions and just a beautiful love story throughout. The hero, heroine, villains and all the minor characters were very well-developed and had such depth to them too. The book was just such a page-turner it was really hard to put down.
I just adored Leona the courageous, adventurous but beautiful heroine and Aldwin the gallant handsome hero both of them are just great characters. Yes, despite a very rocky start to their relationship which started when they were kids and seemed to continue when Aldwin takes Leona captive to bring back to Lord de Lanceau. Most of the time throughout the book Leona and Aldwin acted like they hated each other but deep down they both can’t avoid the attraction and love they had for each other. Plus, Ms. Kean really portrayed the attraction with lots of heated kisses and sexual tension between the two which wasn’t excessively described or overdone. There was however one sex scene which was tastefully written and I thought very appropriate for its placement.
There were a few things that I had a hard time over-looking though. I wondered why it took Aldwin so long to become a knight I kind of figured it had something to do with Aldwin attempting to kill de Lanceau; maybe the whole situation should have been explained better about Aldwin’s taking so long to be knighted. I am also hoping that Tye’s genetic link to de Lanceau will be explained in other books too. I am amazed that Veronique could be so heartless to her son by putting his life in danger so many times. Maybe all of this will be explained when I read the entire knight series in order and completely. Despite these things that I mentioned above I still rated the book four stars. I will keep this one in my library to read again, can recommend it and definitely will read another from Ms. Kean.

Poor Leona is injured in childhood during a game with her brother and Aldwin, and they are parted. When they are grown, Aldwin has never forgotten the incident, and it has made him a better man. He wants nothing more than to be an honorable knight. While on a mission for his lord, he runs into Leona as part of a plot that he must stop, and is shocked that she survived when he had been told she hadn't. As he tries to keep her safe and out of trouble, their desires are kindled and romance thrives.

Very well written. If you like medieval times...you will like this book. The only thing what I didn't totally get was why that jewel was sooo important. The book was not only driven by the quest to get a hold on this jewel...the way the author writes, the pace that's been set through her writing is good enough to keep you going :-) It really kept me up into the early hours.

I like this series of books. They are well written and it is so good to see familiar character. Alwin has matured and has become the person he swore he would be. I like that the women are strong, self confident, and value themselves

Veronique, is a hoot and a half. I can hardly wait to see how she finally gets what's coming to her.

Enjoyable, light read to another place and time of actual relative political stability in 13th Cent. Scotland. Not sure how realistic as life in the northern reaches was actually very harsh, brutal tribal factions and short lifespans. Nonetheless, if one is to read this, read the full trilogy.

this was a free book for me and I have say I was surprised. I like historical romance type novels. The book was very enjoyable with likable characters and action. The story line was enjoyable also. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes medieval romances.
