Exceptional work with an interesting premise that was hard to put down!

I was fortunate to have received an ARC version of this book, which I read immediately. It is one of my favorites in the 4 Horseman Universe. It is such an awesome concept for an alien race that hasn't been this faithfully executed since Larry Niven's Kzin. You cannot use the internet without seeing funny cat videos, or pictures, or not have seen an Oatmeal comic about cats. Those picky, and aloof furry little beasts we know deep down are plotting to kill us have been elevated to the galaxy's most efficient and feared assassins. This tale picks up on a short story in one of the excellent anthologies we've been gifted with, and does not disappoint. Kacey and Marisa have put together a story that I found myself quoting passages to my spouse, who is truly a "cat whisperer". She doesn't read SciFi, but I am nearly positive I could get her to read this because of how well integrated the fictional constructs are with real feline behavior. There are so many nuances in the various human, Depik and other alien characters. There are power struggles, chivalry, honor, betrayal, revenge and sacrifice. It is a most excellent tale, and I look forward to more from these authors.
