Offensive gender biases with incompressible advice for little ones
Reviewed in the United States on March 4, 2021
I’m baffled by the high ratings. Every character strength is divided in stereotypical manner across genders to the point where it’s truly offensive. The shy and kind ninjas are females and the gritty and most other ninjas are males. Also, if you know anything about the psychology of how kids consume children’s books you’d know that these 100% could not correct any problems but instead would exacerbate them. For example, 80% of the books go in depth into the issue the ninjas face (meaning kids are relating to those problems, and likely feeling them more strongly because of the books) and then the resolutions are written at the level of a high school student, meaning not actionable in the slightest for little kids. It’s utterly offensive in the gender biases and harmful, not helpful in the advice. It left a bad taste in my mouth, overall.
