I loved the counting challenges in this this book. The illustrations are darling. The reason I gave it only 4 stars was because I have some concerns about the durability of the book in my pre-k classroom. Time will tell. I would recommend, however, and I plan on buying some more books from this series.

The illustrations in this book are too cartoon-like and their colors too blurrey for young children to identify and the phrasing of the questions is confusing and sometimes erroneous - for instance ladybugs are referred to as "ladybirds". I purchased this book for my 3-year-old granddaughter but would be embarrassed to give it to her or her parents and will find something else instead.

This book is super fun for preschoolers. Your child must be able to “sort” in order to count certain TYPES of animals within a big picture. It’s more challenging than a typical counting book. The illustrations are super cute. Parents be ware— this is NOT a “quick” bedtime book.

This is probably the favorite book of my 2 year old grandson twins. It is made of paper, so it became destroyed almost immediately. They still love it and want to read it but it is torn apart. I wish this book came with "child-proof" pages but I guess it doesn't. I actually bought 2 because I knew the paper pages would not last. Once the first book was torn apart...which was almost immediately...I gave them the 2nd one I ordered. That one, too, now has torn pages. I would like to see this book published in hard pages for toddlers

I admit, I hide the book for a week. Bought this for Christmas for my 3 year old. Read it every which way, as book was written, then just played along, "wheres the penguin, how many alligators"...which are not storyline prompts.

I have since pulled it out...just cause he looked for it every night...his "animal counting" book.

Need to purchase the rest of the series...

I like that this book goes a little beyond "1, 2, 3" and shows the kids the next steps in mathematics: differences, greater than/less than basics, etc. It's a no pressure, early introduction for little guys. My grandson is 2 going on 3, very good with numbers already. I think this book will be perfect for him now :)
