To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I honestly don't understand what all the reviewers are raving about here. Awkward rhymes, unimaginative illustrations, and a story line that couldn't keep my 5 year old's attention all the way through the end. Hugely disappointed.

Very disappointed in this book. The pictures are great - they're so vibrant, crisp, and colorful. But the story is lacking. The rhymes seem very clumsy, and things aren't fully explained.
I was tricked by how many good reviews there were for this product, but as I looked closer, they're not all for this book!! It seems like this listing has been used over and over again - probably to get the quick-click buyers like me!
We bought this for a 2 year old, and they understood the story with a little extra explaining, but it was disappointing for us adults.
The book is beautifully illustrated. The story is just ok. It's not really all that creative and the constant rhyming is irritating. I was expecting more and my daughter and I found ourselves let down after reading it the first time. We really had high expectations based on the other reviews and the fact that my daughter loves mermaids.
I bought this on our last grocery trip for my mermaid obsessed 4 year-old, the pictures are cute, but frankly the story is lacking even for a modern children's book. I own better written toddler board books. I wish I hadn't wasted money on it.
