I have just read about 20% of this book and am thoroughly impressed with the plot, the characters and the whole feeling of it. After the last few books in the series I was not expecting much so this was a very pleasant surprise. I just wanted to let everyone know that you are in for a treat, JR Ward is back in top form. I will update this review when I'm finished with the book (it is quite long).
(Update) I finished reading this book and am pleased to say it is as good as the first 20% was. The story of Mae and Sahvage was the anchor for a whole new subseries within the Brotherhood world. There will be demons, witches, warlocks, etc. Lassiter may get a love interest he didn't expect, the Thief will also get a lover and the Demon will lick her wounds and come back for more mayhem. I am anxiously awaiting what the next book in the series will bring as Ms Ward has given us a glimpse of a whole new universe of stories within the Brotherhood world.

I am 38% in and as confessed as heck. Too many side plot that take away from the main character. Plots that are just plain boring. That time could be spent with the brothers. I will power thru and update this rating..So sad.
Update : Took a while to fully understand that that I have to say goodbye to this series. This is heartbreaking for me, I spend years reading, re-reading living with my BDB family . This book was not about the BDB this book is a fallen Angel book with the brothers as cameos This book is a Devina book if you don't know who she is then you are tough out of luck . All the humor and funny lines in book were given to her.

I don't know when Mrs Ward lost the plot. She could have end the series after after the death of the Omega and lessening society.. She have so many spin off series set in the Brotherhood ,this book belongs in one of them .. I am lost for word that she thought, this poorly written book with every chapter is the point of view of people that are not the main characters of this book can be sold for nearly $16.00. My advice if and that's a big if you want to put yourself through the pain of reading this book, get it from your local library..

It feels like I've waited for decades for Lover Unveiled, and it did not disappoint. The climatic ending is going to thrill you and frustrate you as Ward sets up future storylines that you want right now. Not another year wait! Please, oh great one, the writer known as J. R. Ward, I am begging you, please don't make me wait another year to know Lassiter's story! Ok, so I realize my pitiful review has given no summary, no detailed critique, but come on, it's a Black Dagger Brotherhood novel by J. R. Ward. Do you really need to read a review to help you decide to buy Lover Unveiled? Black Dagger Brotherhood, J. R. Ward, that's all you need to know. Buy it, read it, and hold on tight, it's a wild, wild ride.

A long time lover of the BDB's, Ive asked myself how long can this series go on? Overall, the quality seems to be failing. There are moments the stories and characters harken back to greatness but this book feels cobbled together, disjointed. Characters almost unlikeable. Love pops up but Im not convinced. Characters come on and off the stage...then suddenly, the book ends. Wow, not much payoff there...it just ends with a whimper.
Lassiter's becoming more interesting. There are seeds of future stories. Somehow, while the main characters were on the stage often something is missing. The gap between them seems insurmountable. She sounds too young and he, too old. Even romantic scenes lack pizzaz. It was..yeah, that happened, then this happened, the end.

I cannot believe that this was written by J.R. Ward. It can't be possible. It is like untying cooked spaghetti's. The Brothers are relegated to an afterthought. It has no continuity and the series needs an ending to make sense. Sorry, but it was really hard work to read and go back and forth to figure what was really going on in this book. Disappointed is not strong enough of a statement. If you want the real energy and flavor of The Brotherhood, re-read the 1st to the last book in the series in order.

OKAY, ARE YOU STILL READING?... LET'S GO!

SAHVAGE is here, and he's everything you expect from a Black Dagger Brother. He's been living off-grid for over a century and thought to be long dead. He had been supporting himself as an MMA underground fighter, and he's very good! He meets his future love interest during a fight set up by Rehvenge. Because of her interference, he received a mortal wound and she steps in to save his life. She has no idea he carries a huge secret and because of this secret, he really wants to die.

Mae has gone through a terrible loss and is desperate to find and use that dreaded spell book we learned about that Devina controlled Throe with. Sahvage has some knowledge of what Mae experts this spell to do and is trying to talk her out of it. Mae is so far gone, she doesn't listen until it's nearly too late. Devina is doing what she does best and is pretty much unhinged during most of the book. Don't get me wrong, I don't like what she stands for, but as the counterpart to Lassiter, she's great!!!

We get some background story as to why Sahavage has been living away from the Brothers and it's kind of unexpected. We hear what happened to him and his cousin Rahvyn, who was his charge. Rahvyn is also thought to be dead over this time, but like Sahavage she has returned to the land of the living. Seems she will play a major part in Lassiter's life in the near future. (Don't quote me on this, it's just an educated guess).

Balthazar plays a big role throughout this book and another guess is he will be an upcoming future lead player in the series. We are introduced to Erika, the Detective working all of the murder cases committed by Devina, and something about her hits home for Balthazar. Could she be the next shellan?

We get the appearance of some of our favorite brothers and a short appearance from one or two shellans. Overall the book is keeping in the tradition of the previous books and does not disappoint. J. R. writes one of the few series I have enjoyed from beginning to end. Jim Frangione has done his usual wonderful job. Worth a credit...Hell Yeah!

I absolutely love the Black Dagger Brotherhood and all the books before this one. I have to say it left me wanting. It is a little more non-focused than most of the other books before this one. Most other BDB books focus on one to two story lines and the love between the main characters and this one has 5/6 you are jumping between. I’m hoping because there is a new bad in the world, that this is introducing and gearing up for more and I honestly hope that Sahvage and Maes relationship is continued in the next book. Because again I’m left wanting and feel like they got passed over for a full story. I don’t feel like there was any solidified togetherness as expressed by other couples in other books. Hopeful for the next installment.

I believe this is book 19 in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series and I felt that the relationship between Sahvage and Mae was made more of a focus than in previous additions to the BDB universe. The books of the core characters that are at the foundation of the series (Wrath, Vishous, Butch, Zsadist, Phury, Rhage, Tohrment) really focused on their character development and the romance with their chosen mates. Ward built a world full of males that are all Alphas and about love that would last not just your lifetime but centuries. Add to that her brand of urban slang mixed with her very detailed descriptions of affluent settings and you got a book universe that neither felt nor sounded like any other. The reason anyone reads romance is for the fantasy relationship. In my opinion, most of the recent books in the BDB universe have focused more on the "world building" aspect of the BDB universe and less about the character building and romance between the main protagonists. Obviously when you have a series that is this broad in scale you need to put more forethought onto the page about how these characters fit in the greater universe of the BDB and of how the story will flow into the next offering in the series. However, for the last several books (probably since the conclusion of Lover At Last), it has felt that the romance portion has been more of an afterthought with the intimacy scenes (sexual and emotional). Kind of like throwing you a bone since it was the romance section you found the book in! While I'm definitely glad that one of my favorite series has continued for so long and that with new books you may have the opportunity to revisit some of your favorite characters (Ms. Ward, if you're reading this, this is me asking a for book about John Matthew and Xhex!!!) sometimes 500 pages go by and that character you were hoping to hear about isn't even mentioned. With this book at least I liked how she delved into Sahvages's past. It made him more dimensional and it made me much more vested in his character and path. One of the characters mentioned in this book from the previous books is Murhder. I remember reading Lover Mine (John Matthew & Xhex's story AND MY FAVORITE BDB BOOK!) and thinking I can't wait to read Murhder's story. This book mentioned his mate Sara and their adopted son Nate and I swear I couldn't even remember the details of their story. Their romance left no impact. All I remember about Murhder's story is that I went into thinking this is gonna be awesome, he was driven mad by the sympath torture and just how cray cray is he? Yeah. No. Think kumbaya and kittens. I digress. I found Lover Unveiled to be a good read, a worthy addition to the BDB and reason enough to stick around for the next installment.

I am emotionally drained, have a book hangover, and just have ALL THE FEELS! I’m sitting on the edge of my seat needing to have the next book. I feel like I was left with a cliffhanger, even though I wasn’t. In previous books, the Omega and the Lessers were expected and I knew the Brothers would face them book after book. With this new evil in town, I need to know what is going to happen RIGHT NOW! Lassiter, I know you can’t share all that you know, but dang it, I need some reassurance. I’m worrying about Balthazar and wondering about that “other way” that was mentioned. I’m concerned about the Brothers, even though I know they will be able to handle things, but I know it’s not going to be easy. Sahvage and those tattoos I could picture all through the book, especially with that one part about the hand and how its view was changed. Yeah, I had tears, because da** you, JR Ward, you just had to go there! I wasn’t prepared for it to happen and I yelled out loud, “NO!” My heart definitely had a workout with Sahvage and Mae.
