Good, but too short!

I like the world of the Tornians and Kalyzians (fingers crossed that I spelled that right), and love every moment spent with Grim, Lisa, and their daughters. And I also like the new backstory built on top of what we already have learned about this universe. The intimation of what's to come has me waiting eagerly for the next installment of this series. What the raptor of Luda can do is both terrifying and magnificent all at the same time. I just wish the story could have been longer. Maybe it's because I skipped a couple of the earlier books, or maybe it's just been a while since I last read what's already in my library, but I felt I was missing half the underlying context of the story that did not pertain to the children finding and subsequently caring for the injured raptor. Everything else just flew over my head and now I think I should correct my mistake. That's why I rated this book as a 4.
Now it's back to the beginning and perhaps when I return to this story it'll make more sense. Fingers crossed!
