I used to think these GearRatchet sets were a gimmick but now I'm a believer. After years of wrenching with standard tools I finally came across a bolt I could not loosen with my plethora of 'custom' bent wrenches and shortened sockets. It was the front-most exhaust manifold bolt on a Ford 460 in an E350; not much space. I tried for hours then finally got on Amazon and did some tool searching. After I received the GearRatchet I went and gave it a try. I had the bolt out in 2 minutes.
This socket set is much slimmer than your standard socket/ratchet combo. The ratchet head swivels for better positioning. The passthrough feature on the socket allows for studs to pass through the socket so your ratchet sits closer to the fastener. The torque goes into loosening the bolt, not into rounding it off. The sockets are 6-point which helps prevent rounding the bolt head as well. The handle is longer than your standard 3/8 inch ratchet so you can apply more torque to your stuck fastener. If you're worried that this is a specialty item, it comes with an adapter that allows you to attach any 3/8 inch drive socket to the ratchet, albeit without the passthrough system.
Overall, I highly recommend this tool set. I wish I bought it a long time ago.
