The Good, The Bad, The Ugly: Running Blind
Reviewed in the United States on May 30, 2017
There was one thing Lee Child hadn’t done with the Jack Reacher books. He did it with Running Blind though. Making it a “who’s the killer” type of story was the right move. Reacher can’t keep taking conspiracies. See what else I think of the book.
The Ugly: Not so much something wrong with the story or anything, but it’s more with the design. There is a cover to the book cover that was the wrong thing. It depicts a desolate road with snow all over it in the woods. Has nothing to do with the book. It gives off the wrong impression. A classic case of don’t judge the book by the cover.
The Bad: Somewhat predictable is the best way to describe this book. Is the right way? No. But it is the way to describe it. Child made the killer the most predictable part of the book. You could tell who it was once they showed up in the book.
The Good: As I said in my opening, the story is what made this book. It was the best story in the first four books. Definitely a step up from the last book. Keep that in mind when you read it.
Final Thoughts: So far, there has only been one miss the Jack Reacher stories. This one isn’t the best one, but it’s worth it. Give it a try why don’t you.
