How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we donโ€™t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

3.0 out of 5 starsCute but 2 drawbacks
Reviewed in the United States ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ on January 4, 2019
My daughter loves the original Corduroy book, so I was excited to find this and pair it alongside of a toy Doctor Kit. This book and the kit were wrapped together as a Christmas present for my 22 month old.

My daughter enjoys it, so that's a win. In fact, that is probably all that should really matter. She had fun recognizing Corduroy and giggled when she realized she had all of the doctor tools, too.

The book itself is super short, but the real reasons I knocked off 2 stars are due to two things in the story:

1. The doctor scolds Corduroy for eating too many cookies when he steps onto the scale. I didn't particularly like that. I wish that part had been completely omitted. Instead of including the negative statement, it would have been more helpful for the doctor to remind Corduroy to eat his fruits and vegetables! Something positive instead, and not related to pounds on a scale.

2. At the end of the book, Corduroy receives a balloon and a button. Not sure about your doctor's office, but at ours, that kind of reward isn't given out post shots. I'm a little nervous that my daughter might expect this when we have our next vaccination appointment. Yikes!

This is a classic, and I purchased this for my VERY doctor resistant 2YO son, who is terrified of everything to do with the doctor. I'm talking a meltdown when he sees a stethoscope. Anyway, this book, while not totally relieving him of his fears, has definitely helped him normalize doctor visits, and given him pictures and words to associate with his visits, which is really important. He notices that Corduroy looks concerned in the pictures, which I think is okay, since it's okay to be nervous when you go to the doctor. It even shows Corduroy getting a shot, and of course the very scary stethoscope. I purchased this with a little doctor's kit toy in hopes that he will be calmer the next time he goes in. It's starting to work!

All little people have to go to the doctor to make sure they are growing just right. This sweet little book is a spin-off of the original, "Corduroy." And is simply fun to see how a cute and charming stuffed bear comes alive and helps make the visit to the doctor less scary. Highly recommend it.

My daughter loves the book and it has really helped with going to the doctor. Yes, I didnโ€™t like the you gained too much weight by eating too many cookies, but my daughter loves that part and finds it funny. So, my daughter likes it, itโ€™s helped, and thatโ€™s all I really need. I would recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cute and Classic!

Cute short book for young kids to understand what happens at the doctor's office. I remember this book from when I was a kid! Perfect for 1.5-5 years of age in my opinion. I bought this for a friend who has 3 kids under the age of 5. Some people said the part where Corduroy is getting weighed and the doctor says "too many cookies Corduroy" is an outdated. But it's such a classic line and it's teaching kids not to eat too much junk food. It's not like it says that Corduroy is too fat. I love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Comforting book for young children getting used to going to the doctor
Reviewed in the United States ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ on November 3, 2013

Our 2 year old loves this book. We purchased it because he is going through a phase where he cries at the doctors office even before anyone touches him. We want him to be comfortable at the doctor. This book has certainly helped. It goes through the story of Corduroy the bear going to the doctor, waiting in the waiting room, seeing the doctor who examines him and him being brave and that there is nothing to worry about. Our only issues were that the main character Corduroy the bear goes to the doctor but there is no mention of his parents being there with him. Also, the doctor notes that he is too overweight (which probably wasn't needed) But overall an easy read and makes a child feel better. We recommend.

My granddaughter is 20 months old and she loves all her board books. The pages are colorful and the words are short but remarkable. I've raised several children on these books and will continue to contribute my part to books of this nature until my end of time.

My son has some medical issues and has to go to the doctor frequently. He is only two, and totally terrified of doctors and their offices. I was hoping this would help him better understand why we go to the doctor and what to expect. He loves this book and has started to say certain lines form it when we are going to an appointment or administering his medication. Perfect!
