I remember, as a boy, my surprise and sadness when I read in the newspaper that Marilyn Monroe had died. It was sad to me even though I knew little more than that she was a movie star. Later I would get a sense of her frailty and vulnerability and how people used her. Hers is a sad story which is not covered here, but of course, that was not the focus of this bio. In terms of its parameters, there are a lot of interesting facts and tidbits about her career. Their marriage is covered, but not mentioned is the fact that Joe DiMaggio took care of her funeral arrangements and, I read once, was the only one of her husbands and lovers to attend her funeral. I think fans of film and of Hollywood and those interested in the lives of the more interesting stars would enjoy this bio.
