3.0 out of 5 starsRemarkable mother

The book is packed full of lengthy descriptive details, some quite repetitious. Because of this, I found myself skimming through parts of it to keep the story going. Also, each chapter is numbered, which normally would be ok but the author changes recollections of himself and his mother but as the chapter starts, it wasn’t always clear right away who was talking. It would have been better to add the person’s name along with the chapter number to make the reader know who that chapter was about.
However, the author’s mother was a remarkable lady who through adversity and many challenges, got all her children through college and all of them rose to the challenge and didn’t let their neighborhood/background thwart them.
