4.0 out of 5 starsEntertaining book written by a total scumbag
Reviewed in the United States on January 27, 2014
This book contains more background on Jordan's early days, his friends, etc.. He again reveals himself as a total scumbag and it is obvious that he has not changed. After ratting out his friends to the police, he rats them out to the general public in order to make some more money. And there are truly bizarre things here, like how the author gets morally outraged by a couple of girls dancing topless by his pool, in plain view of his young daughter. This from a man who has wandered around his home in a drugged stupor for most of that child's life, who has ripped off thousands of people, and who lies and betrays and cheats at every opportunity. As in the first book, we find some interesting insights every once in a while. At one point, he says that he was the happiest before he became rich, when his first wife and he were still struggling.

This book is much better written than the first one, The Wolf of Wall Street. It is obvious that Jordan is a fast learner, if nothing else. It is also a real page-turner, which is why I am giving it 4 stars.

3.0 out of 5 starsBook Title Misleading
Reviewed in the United States on June 9, 2021
Most of the book covers Belfort’s life after he was charged and after he agreed to be a cooperating witness (Rat). Belford is a wordsmith who managed to use his talent to feed his greed and the greed of others. He also could afford great lawyers, with great connections, who eventually got him a minimal sentence. What a great country, if you’re rich. The sex chapters in the book we’re probably put in to sell more books. Belfort was not the first nor will he be the last of the reprobates who work on Wall Street. He says he’s reformed—only time will tell.

5.0 out of 5 stars When you hit rock bottom, the only direction left is UP.

In 2011, Mr. Belfort penned "Catching the Wolf of Wall Street." This book is the exact polar opposite of its predecessor. In this sequel, Jordan is nearly broke, on the verge of divorce from his second wife, struggling to kick his drug/alcohol problems, and in order to receive a 5K letter and reduced sentence, Jordan must wear a wire, and rat on his former friends. It is moving to see someone who has fallen so far, and so fast attempt to salvage the wreckage of his life, while clinging to his family, and his fortune. Gone are the wild stories of partying, and debauchery at Stratton Oakmont. Here is a man who has hit complete rock bottom. Jordan mocks his own paltry writing skills at the end of the book, yet ironically goes forward to write two excellent bestsellers. "Catching the Wolf of Wall Street" is highly recommended....especially to those who enjoyed both the book, and movie "Wolf of Wall Street." Buy it, and read it today from www.amazon.com.

5.0 out of 5 stars Captivating true story of the Wolf of Wall Street

I highly recommend this book for anyone who enjoyed the first one or the movie. This sequel goes further into detail about the events that happened just after the first book. It’s a great insight into the life of Jordan Belfort and as well as an expertly crafted, exciting, and overall cautionary tale of the dangers of greed and living life too fast. It’s also a story of redemption that any reader could draw inspiration from.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Good Followup to the Book

Having read the orginal book and seen the movie I wnated to give this a read. The book deals more with life after the arrest but the stories does touch on Jordan's past deeds. Maybe because my life is so different I find it very interesting. I wonder how each of us would act if we could truly do pretty much anything we wanted. The erotic exploits and money making hand over fist is exciting but then in the end it is all smoke and mirrors with little real substance to it. How Jodran went from being in control to out of control to having little control of his own life.

5.0 out of 5 stars A MUST READ AFTER READING "THE WOLF OF WALL STREET" !
Reviewed in the United States on October 28, 2014

If you read the Wolf of Wall Street, you should read Catching the Wolf of Wall Street - it is a good read and finishes off the former book. He is just as funny as in his first book but he also tells, in depth, what happened to him in the end and how he had to rat out all his friends, especially how he ended up being wired to catch them. He explains in great detail what made him turn on them and how he finally came through it all as a better person.

5.0 out of 5 stars A companion for modern insanity

This book picks up where the previous one written by Jordan Belfort left off. It is just as good as the first because Belfort is able to continue the narrative as only he can. It's simply a must-have if you already devoured the insanity of his first book. A page-turner that is difficult to put down because the reader will want to know how he actually survived the events leading up to his arrest, conviction, and service of his sentence.

I enjoyed reading this book! The fact that it is a true story makes it that much more thrilling! The subject matter draws one in, and the style of writing flows easily.

I was captivated by his stupidity and yet he was this brilliant guy who should have been wise enough to know he was going to ultimately get caught. The stories were great and I would love to see the movie made from this book, like the first one. I'd be interested in seeing if he's planning to write another book after he left prison.

I have just completed this novel and it continues where the first novel left off. I still feel that there is some non fiction and fiction to this book as well. It is entertaining and I feel that every one will enjoy but for what it is worth. Don't believe everything you read and you will really enjoy.
