These brake pads are great! I followed the instructions (Federal-Mogul Document # 3519) to break in the new pads. I also replaced the brake discs (with standard OEM discs) at the same time. I have NO noise problems and these pads provide enough stopping power to activate the ABS system on my '99 Tahoe - in dry summer weather and with 275 wide tires. The better the road conditions are, the more stopping power you will need to have the ABS kick in. Wide tires with good thread on a dry asphalt road in southern summer weather (that equals maximum grip) and you need A LOT of stopping power to actually block the wheels so that ABS kicks in to prevent the blocking. These pads do the job!
These pads are great! good stopping power, just make sure you properly bed them in, or you may get a slight squeal. Make a few gentle stops, and slowly increase speed and stopping force. The idea is to slowly heat them, not quickly. Then with the brakes hot, come to a few few short stops from 50 MPH or more. When I did this, you could literally see the coatings smoke off the brake area.
First off, my truck is my main vehicle and I live in a hilly area where animals frequently dart out in front of you. I got over 2 years/25K miles out of these pads before they were replaced. They stopped the truck quickly and quietly, and did not heat-check the rotors. They are by far the best brake pads I've ever come across.
