How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we donโ€™t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

Iโ€™m happy to share these books with kids who are learning to ride. Itโ€™s awesome to see famous people who look like my kids and who did heroic things!! I was able to put together a nice little library.

Keep in mind that the majority of the book is fiction. The author doesn't seem to have much knowledge of the culture of the time, or perhaps he does, and simply ignores it and injects his own naive ideas. It's written as if the author were an 8th grade SJW. He goes out of his way to bash the white race. Disappointed because Bass Reeves story is one that everyone should know about.

The content is excellent, and I appreciate how the author explained why he used fiction to help tell the story. My children and I enjoyed learning this bit of important history!! However, I dislike the foul language. I had to censor often while I read it aloud.

Very well written. Enjoyed it from start to finish. I have lived in Texas for over 68 years gave never knew about Bass Reeves .. needs to be a movie about him but seems like a little of True Grit and High'm High stole part of his stories

This was a great read. I was happy to learn the truth about some if these so called cowboy legends that movies were made about like Tombstone. To find out that these individuals were really scoundrels, and bandits not these heroes that we've been mislead to believe was shocking to me. Wyatt Earp and Doc Holiday were not lawmen. A movie telling the real story of these two needs to be done to correct the historical record instead of people being made to believe in a LIE!

Mr. Paulsen admits that there is not a lot of historical fact written about this remarkable sheriff . Still, he weaves a well written account of Bass Reeves' legendary career as a law officer, by combining fact and fiction.. This book would be at home in any school library and would make a good study subject for middle school students. There is not a lot written about Negroes as heroes in the old west. This is a man who was one in every sense of the word. His remarkable arrest record was far and away above all others in his chosen profession. He managed this with remarkable skill, intuition and sheer determination to do his duty as a man of the law. Reading about him makes me wish I had met him.

4.0 out of 5 stars Bass Reeves an Unknown American Legend!

A fine book for preteens and younger. The author has a unique agenda. He in the first chapter belittle all the great names of the Old West as a variety of scoundrels and village idiots all of them being caucasian Americans. Then in his book with 30% of it a sheer fantasy he tries to explain how Bass Reeves became one of the greatest lawmen in the West. I agree with all the factual data about this awesome and amazing Afro-American deputy marshal and his fantastic reputation. Definitely a character that was overlooked by history because of race.

Fun quick read, wish they had included more of his incredible stories. I know information is limited but his near death experiences are interesting. Found more info on-line.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointed with this book

I have read several other Bass Reeves books by Black American authors and loved those books! Because of those books Bass Reeves has become my favorite real Wild West hero. I was very curious to read a White American author's take on the Bass Reeves story, so I purchased this book. Sadly, I was very disappointed. To me, this book falls somewhat in line with a lot of the WOKE, far-left stuff we see these days. The "White man" is typically the villain and every other race is mostly peaceful, loving, progressive and courageous. Now keep in mind, most of the story in this book is fictional. The author mixed some fact with A LOT of fiction. Granted, if the author want's to paint a story in this way, it's his book and it's his artistic license to do so. It's just not my "cup of tea". If you want to read a really good Bass Reeves book, check out Black Gun, Silver Star by Art Burton. That is a book definitely worth reading!
