Offensive to women & poorly plotted
Reviewed in the United States on May 4, 2021
The entire plot hangs on a rape that took place five years previously when two male college students rape a young woman who was unconscious at the time. The rape was also witnessed by two other male students who did nothing. Throughout the book, the woman is referred to as "still playing the victim," and that's pretty much the tenor of the work. The young men are portrayed as being the real victims, as after all it was the young woman's fault, she asked for it, she was promiscuous, etc.
The suspense plot is all right, but the ending leaves just about every major question unresolved.
Altogether a major disappointment, from an author who ought to know better.
