A lot of the book focuses on scientific investigations and details a number of experiments so it is not that surprising that the author was not always able to keep her characteristic light and jaunty tone throughout. Still, I did enjoy it on the whole and will likely read it again. By the way... prospective purchasers should be aware that this book is actually a re-release under a new title of Roach's
, published in 2005.
