How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

4.0 out of 5 starsNot weekly.

I used to read this and I found it a great publication. Reporting has become more subjective of a term but I am amazed that his has become entertainment monthly. I used to get close to 50 magazines a year but I received less than 20 in 14 months so far. As I get older I also realize the time Warner product slant of the reviews and coverage. I would prefer it to be a little more even keeled.

I have subscribed to this magazine for over 20 years and have enjoyed it less and less. The all-too-common double issue was bad enough but now it's once a freaking month????! My favorite thing was the the What to Watch on tv section which let you know what was new and what was worth watching. Gone. New books coming out and the movies.... And instead they keep the recipes? Heck no. I'm out.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing - lacks substantive content

I used to like this magazine back in the "old" days. Now it seems to lack any substance at all. Merely snippets of gossip scattered throughout the majority of pages. A couple movie & book reviews...so so. It's disappointing and I won't be renewing the subscription.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good For Knowing What's On For the Week, Who's in What. Etc. Oriented Mainly to Those Under 40 y.o.

I've been reading Entertainment Weekly for ages, and boy, has it changed! I gave it a fairly positive review on amazon (in 2017, I think), but now EW has too much to cover, & so most of it is too thin to give me much to read. Much wit is attempted, & a fair amount of writing which actually IS quite witty, informative and right on target

Ways of purchasing and consuming entertainment - films, music, episodic t.v., streaming services, books (etc.), and a need to fill more positons, roles, etc. (too many more categories to mention) - have exploded. Keeping track of it all so I could watch or DVR the best shows, go to the films I wanted to see, etc., used to be fun. Now it's just not worth the effort (for me, anyway).

I can't fault EW for having to cover so many new aspects of entertainment by skipping around and lightly touching on as much mainstream entertainment as is possible. I also just don't care to get less info on so many more subjects - I'm finally unsubscribing, after all this time!

Been awhile since my purchase of this mag and have only received 1. It’s been too long since another one has arrived. I had this problem before then like 3 of them came at once!

3.0 out of 5 stars Used to read cover to cover, now not so much
Reviewed in the United States on June 17, 2015

I used to read this cover to cover, but now, not so much. There's not enough music coverage, and man, when they love something, they LOVE it. You'll see multiple covers just on one show or movie. Even years after it's cancellation, it seems like a Lost cover crops up every once and awhile. Anyway, I have cancelled my subscription for now. With all the other things to read online, it doesn't seem worth my money, but I might reconsider if I get a deal, need to buy it to support a fundraiser or just miss it too much.

3.0 out of 5 stars NO LONGER WEEKLY
Reviewed in the United States on January 2, 2020

This is no longer a Weekly Magazine. This magazine is now issued monthly. I would have never subscribed to it if I would have known that it was issued monthly and not weekly anymore. I would give it more stars except for the fact that it is false advertising.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's not really "Weekly".

When I first started receiving this magazine, I loved it! Unfortunately, this "weekly" magazine is more often then not a "Double Issue" meaning you will only receive it every other week. On top of that, it never arrives on time and the subject matter has taken a turn for the worse. I doubt that I'll be renewing my subscription.

This magazine was much better when it first came out. Maybe because I watched more tv back then. I ordered it because the deal was so good but I wouldn't order it again unless I got another great deal.

3.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining but plays favorites
Reviewed in the United States on August 18, 2013

I like reading this magazine. Overall it is interesting and and informative.
They do seem to play favorites and focus a lot of pages in multiple issues on the same movies and television show. If they are not your favorites this can be frustrating.
There section on books completely ignores the best sellers and focuses on art house stuff. Not even a mention (that I saw) of Vince Flynn's death. 6 NY Times best seller.
