The Atlantis Complex

Forbidden love, out of control robots, out of control wrestling brawl, underwater exploration, giant squid, and a mysterious mind shattering mental illness are just some of the things you can expect in the seventh installment of the Artemis Fowl series, The Atlantis Complex. This book comes from the award winning Irish writer Eion Colfer. He has many many awards for his books including: Irish Book of the Decade, Bistro Book of the Year Award, Irish World Literature Award, British Book Awards Children's Book of the Year, and many others. Personally, I felt like this installment had a little bit of a different feel than the others. It's an extremely good book, just different than the others. That being said there are some things that have stayed the same, like the humor Artemis Fowl lovers have come to enjoy. If you haven't ever read an Artemis Fowl book before let me give you a taste, "It was an old hard back that his father often chose as a bedtime tale, entitled The Crock of Gold, which told the story of a greedy bucko who capture a leprechaun in a vain effort to steal the creature's gold. When father had finished reading the last word on the page, which was Fin, he would close the worn leather-bound cover, smile down at his son, and say, "That boy had the right idea. A little more planning and he would have pulled it off." In The Atlantic Complex Artemis has to face his toughest enemy yet...himself. Can he overcome the Atlantis Complex? Can he reclaim his body from the mysterious Orion? And what will become of Atlantis? Go pick up the Atlantis Complex today and find out! This book is perfect for anyone in middle school or up. I even read it in college! If you like Eion Colfer's writing you may also like the Supernaturalist. If your looking for something similar try The Bartimaeus Trilogy by Jonathan Stroud or The Keys to the Kingdom series by Garth Nix.
