A true-crime book that you can’t put down!

The narrative style is so well done! It’s like reading a fiction novel but you can’t believe it actually happened! Being from Iowa, made it even more compelling because I had never heard of this case before. I want to know so much more! Loved reading this book!

I hated this book. I'm sorry if that offends you, its true. The narrator, well, I couldnt stand her voice at first and I know sometimes a voice takes some "getting used to" and it did become somewhat less like a screeching cat fight to my ears, but then the inflection and total lack of nuance drove it home for me. I hated this book.
Ive enjoyed other books by this author, but this one? Hated it.

Greg Olsen has become one of my favorite crime story authors. His books are articulately written leaving the reader shocked yet wanting to read more. You can honestly tell he does a thorough job interviewing the subjects involved in his stories.

Cruel intentions although not his most most shocking book about horrific mothers was still mind boggling to say the least. Lots of medical details which wraps up nicely to make the trial even more satisfying.

I can’t wait to start reading another book by this author as I’ve downloaded several. Recommend.

I learned a lot about this book. I had a friend many years ago that lost a baby at 2 months. I believe a story she told about putting a pillow over the baby's face. It was to get the baby's father's attention. It was ruled SIDS. I could never prove it but I do believe that it can happen. I pray for all the babies and children for their safety. Some get away with it and as this book proved, some don't.

If you are a reader of true crime, and I am, this is one of the best books you will read. CRUEL DECEPTION flows so smoothly, it reads more like a novel than a non-fiction. Mr Olsen sets the scenes and takes you deep within the people of this heart-wrenching and only so human story. Read every word- his epilogue includes a brief moment with Tanya Reid that reveals not only her humanity in the face of her unspeakable crimes, but Mr Olsen's, which is why he is the writer he is. A fascinating and thorough look at a rare and troubling condition known as Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy, this book will grip you and hold you until the end.

Greg Olsen has written some of my favorite true crime books, and continuesd to impress me with this book. The deception of the killer was as riveting as is was horrible, and Olsen did a great job of weaving the facts into a very readable package. I will be reading this one again. Another great book about a mother with this mental condition is "A Mother's Trial" by nancy wright. I thought both were interesting and captivating reads.
