Well-written, but tedious

Will she resist, or won't she? The question is tediously dragged along throughout the story. Granted, the main character is young, but with all the supposed powers she possesses, why the lengthy process? I found myself skipping to the disappointing ending, in which her daughter - when born and trained - will be destined to live in isolation for her entire life. Not a happy conclusion, and a very slow read. After peeking at the ending, I had to force myself to finish all of this book. Some nice moments, though, where remorse, compassion, empathy, and family values are apparent. This is an excellent writer, but this book was not for me. Loved Blackthorn and Grim!
