This was the first book I ever read, in 6th grade. I read other books, of course, with the assistance of teachers, or by the instruction of teachers. This was the first story I ever picked from the school library all by my accord, and made the conscious decision to read. It really was a page turner, inciting very vivid mental images that I can still recall today, over 11 years later. I found it on Amazon and couldn't resist!
It says its a "ghost story" but its truly not very scary at all, even for a youngster. It paints such a wonderful picture of life in the past, as the character is transported back in time. Totally recommended for young kids!
