There are so many good Berenstain Bear books, and this one fell flat. My 6-year-old loves baseball and the B. Bears, and a book explaining how to cope with pressure seemed like a good fit. But while pressure is mentioned, it doesn't really address the problem, and as another viewer said, having Sister call Brother sexist in a children's book was unexpected. Good intentions, but there are better ways to encourage equality in ways young children can understand.
While no one wants to see Brother and Sister fail, I can't help but think the story would have been more effective if either one or both did not get a spot on the team, and showed how they coped, successfully, with overcoming the pressure and disappointment to a positive outcome.
