Top positive review
a compelling case of legal derangement
Reviewed in the United States on December 15, 2018
This is the best single account of the mass hysteria that swept the country in 1980's, where vicious therapists coached the weak-minded, frequently with the aid of hypnosis, into recovering false memories of satanic worship and mass sexual abuse by an ever expanding ring of miscreants, usually including the prosecutors' political enemies. Unscrupulous prosecutors and social workers coached very young children into reciting preposterous stories, sending innocent people to prison for, in some cases, decades. This was the greatest travesty of legal justice in this country in my lifetime. Wright relates a compelling instance of this lunacy. I read it at a sitting because I couldn't put it down. If you think this behavior is entirely behind us after the damage wreaked, look at some of the negative reviews here. The witchfinders are still among us.
