Top critical review
Good information but lacking in detail

I had high hopes for this book based on other reviews however I was somewhat disappointed in the product once I had read through it. In fairness to the authors, this is a fairly good review book, with decent photos and one that should be marketed towards armchair hunters or those who have not hunted bruins in a while. For those looking to hone their skills or looking for more of a textbook on bear hunting, this is where I found it lacking. The individual chapters are short and vague with not a lot of detail and seem to only whet your appetite for information. By and far my chief complaint is that there are no diagrams!! While photos on almost every page of the authors with their downed bears are nice, I didn't set out to purchase a family photo album! When describing shot placement, there should have been line drawings and some sort of cutaway of a bear to show vital organs. By far the worst was where they describe skinning a bear after a successful hunt. Line after line of cut here, trim there but not one image to assist the reader. This could have been at least a 4 out of 5 if there had been images and I would classify it as a nice read during the off season or a quick refresher prior to scouting season. A decent addition to a hunting library but not to be purchased as the only book on bear hunting.
