A very well constructed tool that is fast and easy to use and should last a lifetime.

This is a very solid, well-built set and I would definitely recommend it.
My only minor complaint is that the size inscriptions are nearly illegible on most of the pieces (zoom in on the photo to see what I'm talking about). This is something that is not ideal for my older eyes, and something that would seem to be easy to address. Given the overall build quality of the components, I would think that Lisle would have noticed and corrected this a long time ago. My workaround was to label each part for easy identification.
Today I tested it on a piece of 2 1/2" 16 gauge stainless steel pipe that I had from another project. The expansion was quick and effortless. I wanted the enlarged section to be as concentric as possible so I would expand a little, back the tool off, rotate it slightly, and repeat. I want the fit to be as tight and perfect as possible, so this small extra effort was worth it to me and did not add much time to the overall job. The short Lisle video shows the expansion without moving the tool like I did and you could see there were gaps from the expansion of the tool. It's minor and may not even make a difference in most cases.
As an aside, Amazon has cheaper alternatives that have 6-8 sections that move out (not 4 like this item), but each of those tools had various complaints about the strength of the tool or its effectiveness on thicker tubing. Lisle products tend to be good and durable, so my guess is that Lisle focused more on strength and longevity when designing this product.
Each expander has two O-rings holding the four sections together. I would guess that they last a long time, and if needed you could buy replacements. But it would have been nice to have an extra set supplied for future use. The cost of minor change should be minimal, but it could make a huge difference if it fails late at night or some other time when finding a replacement could be difficult.
All-in-all it is a very well constructed tool that is fast and easy to use and should last a lifetime with minimal care (like keeping the threads greased when using). It will be a very handy tool to have around.
