As a long-time fan of Diana Wynne Jones, I must say this wasn't my favorite book. Many other books are written with children in mind but can still be fun for adults as well- this one really has no appeal to me as an adult, and seems to be quite simplistic. Jones is best known for putting together brilliant masterpieces of legends verses impossibilities- this book combines none of that. No complexity, no brilliance... just a simplistic children's story. In addition, there are numerous parts of plot that could have been elaborated to create a better story, but were not, but instead were simply just THERE. I wouldn't bother reading this one.
