Read this to our 21-month old daughter for several weeks, along with watching "Bye Bye Pacifier" YouTube videos, before we did a "Bye Bye Pacifier" event for her. (Side note: I work for a utility and mylar balloons are a leading cause of power outages! Please do NOT throw plastic pollution into the environment. We basically put all of the pacifiers in a clear ziploc with some ribbons, and then visited a friend with a baby and "gifted" them to the baby.)
We had tried unsuccessfully beforehand to wean her off the binky, with a lot of crying and screaming/ 20-30 minute melt-downs, some bad enough where I was afraid my daughter would vomit. After following the book and saying Good-bye to the pacifier, she only requested it a couple times over the next 1-2 weeks... when we explained, using a lot of lines from the book, she understood and did not cry. Love this book and highly recommend it to others.
