How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

2.0 out of 5 starsUnfriendly bees, bad rhymes, too long.
Reviewed in the United States on August 25, 2020
I agree with the other comments about the rhyming not flowing well. It's not too bad once you get used to it, but starts to go down hill around the part when the bees come. It also rhymes 20 with "plenty" twice and I don't pronounce 20 like that, so I feel weird reading it.

Probably my least favourite part is that the numbers fall out of the tree because bees start attacking them. The bees even go so far as to yell, "GET OUT OF OUR TREE!" Which I find very rude for a 3 yr old's ears. I don't know if these are honey bees, but we generally consider all bees to be friendly. Wasps and hornets are the unfriendly ones. They could have come up with something else to make the numbers fall out of the tree.

My other complaints are that it's just too long and I don't like the way the numbers are sequenced. It counts one through ten and then starts counting by tens until it gets to 90, then it jumps to 99 before the final scene where zero finally gets his home next to 10 and creates a 100. Counting by tens after counting to ten makes sense to an adult, but for someone learning numbers, just piling it all into one book seems confusing. And then to randomly add in 99? I doubt my 3 yr old gets how this is working. I can't remember at what point it start counting backwards too.

The end is cute where zero becomes the "hero", but I don't know why he can't have a home the whole rest of the book. 20, 40, 50, etc. all have zero's where he could have jumped in. It's really repetitive to read "Chicka chicka 123, will there be a place for me?" on every single page and I don't particularly like that he ends up crying either. Made my 3 yr old pretty sad.

I think they were too ambitious with this. Chicka Chicka Boom Boom was one of my childhood favourites and my daughter loves it now too. I gave this one a good chance so we could have a second part including numbers, but I ended up returning it.

My 9 month old loved chicka chicka boom boom so I ordered this one expecting a similar love affair but it just didn't happen. This book attempts to follow the same formula as the alphabet book but somehow missed the mark. The rhyming is too wordy at times and it just doesn't flow as well as chicka chicka boom boom. It also seems to be longer than chicka chicka boom boom and I've yet to get my son to sit through an entire reading without complaining.

3.0 out of 5 stars Prefer Boom Boom

The littlest absolutely loves Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, and she likes this one too, but I don't enjoy reading it nearly as much. It doesn't flow nearly as well as its alphabet counterpart. Flows great in some parts, but so great in others. It's still a good book to help teach some numbers (1-20, then 20-100 counted by tens - except for 99).

5.0 out of 5 stars Children will love this book but you might not like reading it over and over and over again

I bought this for my 2 1/2-year-old grandson. He loves Chicka Chicka Boom Boom so much, he calls me Boom Boom instead of grandma. I have that book memorized and now this one. It's got some rough rhyming and isn't ass rhythmical as Boom Boom but he loves Apple Tree so much! He's learned to count past 10, loves zero, and the 'bumb bees' are the bomb! Sometimes, this book will have to play hide and seek for your own sanity but it's truly wonderful and your children will love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolute MUST HAVE for ALL little ones

We were gifted the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom book in paperback which was quickly destroyed by my toddler. I got on amazon to find it in a boardbook bc it’s, by far, one of her favorite books. I discovered the Chicka Chicka 123 from that search and we have fallen in love with this one too. Both of these books are outstanding. They have always held my daughters attention from about 6months old to our current 18 months. When choosing books to read or to take with us on outings, both of these are among her top choices. If you’re looking for a great gift for baby showers, 1st birthdays, holidays, etc, I highly recommend these books. I only wish they made more!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not fun to read

My toddler is obsessed with the alphabet version of Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and he said he wanted this book too. I just think it’s too many numbers to go through and why would 0 be perfect with 10 to make 100? I don’t get it. It’s just not a fun book to read. I find it daunting going through all the numbers. The ABC one was perfect, so I had high expectations for this book and ended up disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fun board book to read over and over

A sign of a good board book for babies and toddlers. Durable, can keep the child's attention, Attractive yet simple pictures that make babies want to flip through it despite not being able to read a thing yet, and fun for parents to read again and again adding different voices and sounds each time. Saying "chicka chicka" makes it feel like you're singing to the baby too. This book hits all the marks!

1.0 out of 5 stars So disappointed in kindle edition!
Reviewed in the United States on October 6, 2015

So disappointed in kindle edition! I just downloaded the kindle edition of this book for a little story class on counting which I am teaching this morning. It was a desperate measure since I couldn't make it to the book store. Sadly, the kindle edition is practically useless. It is missing the rhyming words. At first I was just confused and thinking it wasn't as cute or clever as the ABC version. Then I got to the end and saw the back cover of the book which has the rhyming words in tact. Then it all clicked, this is missing words. Nothing rhyme, or very few anyway. Important words like "race y to the top of the apple tree" are missing. I will be contacting Amazon for a refund.

This book is great! Engaging and helps children with counting and also rhyming. It includes numbers 0-20; 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, and 100. My son loves it especially since we found a song on youtube to go along with it. If your child, like mine, enjoys integrating music into lessons, I highly recommend using the youtube video as a read along with this book.
