My daughter (not quite 4 years old) loves this book but she is not exactly a critical audience. I shudder when she asks me to read it. The Tangled movie was great fun and the characters delightful. This book captures absolutely none of that. Rapunzel gets a painting lesson with Roberto and the reader is as bored as Flynn is by the experience. Rapunzel has none of the spark she has in the movie, the exchanges between her and Flynn are weak attempts to capture their movie relationship. I don't even know how you can make a chameleon unlikeable, but this book manages it. By all means buy it for your young child, who may like it simply because there is a Disney princess on the cover, but this one will be a grind to get through for the adult who has to read it to him/her.
