White, Black and Blue
Reviewed in the United States on September 18, 2015
Do you like colors? What colors are your favorite?
The author, Antoinette Portis, has written a fun book about Edna the Penguin. Edna lived in the far north surrounded by all white. White is a color. At night it becomes black and she can see stars. Black is a color. And, her land was surrounded by the blue ocean. Blue is a color. Edna decided she wanted to find another color, she knew there must be other colors, white, black and blue is all she knew. One day Edna found another color, and when you read this book, you will discover what she found.
Parents/teachers will enjoy reading this book to their children. The children will enjoy learning about other cultures and other animals. Most children know many more colors than white, black and blue, and they can discuss the colors they like and where they find them. The illustrations are vivid and at times, colorful. They depict Edna the Penguin's habitat, and what she found. A fun book for all.
