To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Someone told me this book reminded them of me. Took me years to finally read it but I’m glad I did. I learned a lot about myself and came to understand a few I didn’t. It’s nice to see others perspectives and also their journey through their spirituality.
Written by a guy who was nearly 30 or a bit over at the time, not married, no kids, not a 40 hour a week wage earner like most folks. It has a few decent things to say, but by no means is profound or a game changer. He accidentally addresses the Gen X and millennial crowds' self absorption as unhealthy while discussing "new truths." It might be okay as a starting point for self centered 20 and 30 something folks, but by no means addresses where most of us live, Christian or non.
I would say it is a book that may bless you a lot or nothing at all, depending on the stage of your journey. I will never gift it to a young, non or new to faith person, because it is born of the learning journey and some of the bitterness that we allow to accumulate through the years. If you are in a mountain top, in one of those moments in which you are full of love for Jesus, get yourself some other book in what ever topic you woud love to explore, eg the attributes of God, unrapping the old testament, grace, prayer... Yet, if you are like I felt, dry and tierd, take it. If you are no longer confortable with labeling people like "us - the world", frustrated of "doing church" and already have had a couple of dissapointments with church members and yourself, read this book! you will find the plain-honest Journey of a christian person with whom you will probably relate and that by reminding you the pieces of truth that we conveniently forget and possibly providing you, as it did with me, some new perspectives to our frustrations. It will be a welcome encouragement to go to Jesus for some washing and healing of your soul.
