Got the original book from Barnes and Noble as a gag gift for a 9-year-old on his birthday and a year later I got this as another gag gift for the same kid on his 10th birthday. :P
The right blend of dark humor for your average adult but child friendly as well so they can be in on the fun. I'd be lying if I said both the original and this worthy sequel didn't have me chuckling frequently while reading through it. A fun little read for the kids too as the birthday boy in question read it aloud to everyone who got in on the fun too.
The only downside is there is no 3rd sequel as I'm writing this so no hattrick gag gift for his 11th birthday but both the previous book and this worthy sequel are good reads and nice little time killers to have you in a good mood!
I LOVE these books. We bought the first before my son was born as sort of a "joke" book to read to him because kids books are sometimes BORING especially when they insist on reading the same ones over and over... Well recently I figured out where he got one of my favorite expressions of his :"this is MY WORST DAY" which is hilariously dramatic coming from a three year old. I cant wait to read this one to him and see what else he picks up!
I mean, look at the title. It's funny and witty and it's a sequel to the original! Don't expect to get into a "Lord of the Rings" 5000 hour read with this. It's laid out like a children's book. Although it can be amusing for adults, it could actually be used to help younger people begin to work through what death is before they can fully comprehend it.
