Perfect beginner chapter books!

I just received these today. Very quick shipping as promised.
I got these for my 5 year old. He’s ahead of his kindergarten class, reading at a 1st/2nd grade level so I thought I should get something a bit more challenging to stretch his mind and decided to search for some beginner chapter books. I read many reviews as always before purchasing and chose this book series 1-4 and it was an amazing price! Very happy about that!

So I had my son read it and he LOVED it. I told him 2 pages and then bed time. He asked to read another page so I let him. Then he asked to finish the chapter so I let him. Then he asked to read the next chapter and I just had to stop and told him he can read more tomorrow. I’m so happy he enjoys reading this. I’m explaining punctuation and quotations and asking him questions as we go among to make sure he’s understanding what he’s reading. And he absolutely loves loves loves it. I included pictures of the pages as that’s one thing I was looking for when looking at the other reviews which I didn’t see any. So I included some for those that would like to know what they look like. Some pictures-very detailed and descriptive but some pages have no pictures which force their little brains to paint their own pictures in their minds. Simply AWESOME! I definitely will be purchasing the next set of books soon.

Great in front, and bad,bad,bad quality inside.

Not about book, very nice stories, kids love them. But! Very sorry to return, I just had to do that. If there is a contrast between the frontispiece and pages, so that is, like cute bow on a bunch of cheap newspapers.
Pluses - paperback, very nice for small hands, and that is all. Next is only contras. Tiny font, with small spacing, pages are black and white and smelly (!!! Yes, these books have an awful odour!) Paper is grayish thin stuff, mostly used for free spam, crowded in your mailbox. I know, there is a tradition of making kids books as bad and cheap as possible, and to sell them with greatest profit, but why not making a better quality! Nobody cares? Why, what's bad for you, not good for your kids, really

Smelled like chemicals

The books are fantastic and my daughter loves reading them. However, we had to throw away the box that hold the books because it smelled like chemicals. Every time we got a book out, that's all we could smell. So we took all the books out and let them air out for a while before my daughter could have them. Super disappointed

My children have loved the Magic Tree House series, but the audio cds are a bit of a letdown. They have 4 books on 3 cds. Books 1 and part of 2 are on 1 cd, and then the remainder of 2 and the whole of 3 are on another cd, and book 4 is on it's own cd. I bought these to use in the car and the cds are short, so I am guaranteed to have to change disks while driving if my kids want to finish the story. They really couldn't have condensed and put 2 books on one bigger disk? Or given each book it's own disk? The series is great, but I don't love how the audio CD's have been done.

I was less than impressed with these stories. Purchased them to read aloud to my kindergartner but I thought some of the writing was almost choppy and didn’t flow well. I am used to the good classics like Charlottes Web and Boxcar Children. I turned these around and sold them at a consignment sale.

Buyer BEWARE: Publisher: Shame on you!

Review of the physical product: The paper these small books are printed on is newsprint. no kidding. The books are not even up to scholastic publishing quality. Shame on you publisher for putting a book on such poor quality paper. There is really no excuse what so ever for printing this on newsprint paper. I use to work in the print industry. You shouldn't be paying more than 5 dollars for the set of 4 books. Really. On top of that, the books are physically ultra thin. The first book is a grammatical train wreck. There are fragment sentences, and sentences so poorly constructed that an educated adult writing for children could not possibly have written this. While I read this book to my son i verbally edit all the rot out of the book. Shame on the author too.

The story is nice. My son likes it. But there really is no reason for the problems listed above except for lazyness and greed. This is my first review. Enjoy.
