To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I purchased the entire Harry Potter series in anticipation of an extended 'pandemic' quarantine and so far: no regrets, they/it was a superb choice. I give the current experience 5 stars. The SELLERS were punctual -2 weeks order>delivery. The STORIES follow the 3 basic rules of great writing- Know your audience; Show don't tell and Less is more. I've always found the book QUALITY exceptional- just enough illustrations to pique interest; as PERFECT 'can't put down' writing as there can be; and (my personal favorite) the flawless font size. My eyes NEVER fatigue. As 'USED' book purchases, I had no disappointments. No bothersome markings. Only 2 missing book covers ... but who really cares? I read Sorcerer's Stone & Chamber when they were first published. Life events intervened with continuing the series. Now being retired (Eyup. 67 y.o.), quarantined and an inveterate reader; the timing to take on the entire lot seemed right. So far so very good.
This was such a great read, and a sad one too. I cried near the very end. Such an incredible loss, to the story, to the series. Yet I find myself again wondering if this is one of my favorites. The twists and turns in this one, as well as Dumbledore finally letting Harry further into the knowledge he has, is what keeps you turning page after page. I just hope the movie does this one justice. I'm not going to hold my breath though, the book is always better.
