There are plenty of books about strength training for football, but not many specificaly for martial arts and that's why I purchase this book. The book centers around using heavy weights for many sets to build strength and endurance. I found out after two weeks, that there was no way my body would be able to keep up with this type of training. My left elbow started hurting and I had to stop for a month before the pain would go away. I also can say that while training this way my heart rate never went pass 90 beats per minute, so I don't think my endurace was challenge at all. Despite the fact that this program did not work for me, I am glad I purchase this book. The book has so much information in it that it is impossible to agree with it all, but it make you think about the possibilities.
Here is some of the subjects covered in this book bodyweights, dumbells, sandbags, strand pulling, keg lifting, and rock lifting. The book goes beyond just training rutines and can get quite philosophycal at times, I like that, so be warn.
Excellent book and such a refreshing and honest reflection on some of the current “ glamorous “ trends in health and fitness that actually take us away from making our bodies fit and functional rather than cover model aesthetics... well done Bud!
5 stars is not enough for this book. I have scores of fitness titles and having been around the Martial Arts for 40 some years I think this adds some weight to my posting of 5 stars .real hard core stuff that will take your strength and endurance to the ultimate level! a fantastic title! Bud Jeffries I take my hat off to you sir!
