How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 starsA wonderful book.
Reviewed in the United States on July 4, 2017
People who give this book a bad review just don't get "Love You Forever". Yes, the mother does some strange things - it's a children's book, the world of talking giraffes and flying cacti. Nobody's reading like a lifestyle manual or an autobiography. The silly things are meant to be unbelievable and gasp-worthy. They're meant to be things we might even have considered doing in our craziest moments. And as for the kid making mess and driving her crazy but she still "loves him forever", is that not exactly how we feel about our kids? I would have thought unconditional parental love would be a very important lesson to teach children. Nowhere is she saying she enjoys or condones the behaviour, in fact her son at some points drove her mad, but she always loved him. Which is how it should be. This is a wonderful story that I, as a mother of a son, did find very emotional. It made me think of all the little rituals my son and I share. The role replacement aspect is very powerful too. I bought this for my son for his first birthday and loved reading it to him. It's a very welcome addition to his little library and I would recommend it to all parents and children of any ages.

1.0 out of 5 starsI won't be reading this to my grandbaby.

I'm sorry. This book is weird. I can't even read it. It's fine until you get to the part where a grown woman gets in her car and straps a ladder to it so that she can break into her grown son's house to physically rock him to sleep. WT#??? How this book is one of the highest rated books on Amazon I can't understand. Hopefully people in the free library will enjoy it because that's where it's going.

Ok was it just me or is this book just way too weird?? The creepy illustrations of the mom crawling into the bedroom then driving to rock a grown man to sleep... uhmmm sorry no. I didn’t even bother returning it, I just threw it in the trash.

1.0 out of 5 stars Messed up story

I never write reviews and I buy almost everything on Amazon. This book is so messed up. It starts out with a mother singing a really lame song to her kid every night. the kid grows up to be a terror and all the book would do is give your kid ideas of bad things to do throughout their childhood. But at the end of each night the mother climbs into the kids room and sings this awful song. Until the kid grows up and becomes an adult and moves away and at night the mother gets in her car and breaks into his house to hold him while he's sleeping and sing him this song. the book ends with the mother getting old and her not being able to sing the song anymore and dying in her son's arms as he sings it to her. it should be something sweet but I don't need my child having these nightmares. I don't need them getting ideas of what bad things to do as a kid and I don't need them knowing that Mommy will continuously get crazier and crazier until she dies in her arms one day. I tried to return this book and Amazon wouldn't even take it back, they refunded my money but they refuse to take the book back.

This is one of the creepiest books I’ve ever read! I wanted to stop halfway through. I bought it for a gift as part of a shower gift, instead of a card and now I’m embarrassed to add it to gift. The mother in this story stalks her son halfway through the book and breaks into his house to rock him to sleep. She should have stopped creeping on him when he was a teenage boy!!!! What mother rocks her teenage boy while he’s already asleep? At the end, the son rocks his mom to sleep when she’s really old and she dies. It’s painful to read.

That book made no sense. How do you even expect to read it to a baby?! I found it stupid. Seriously ?! mommy was sneaking into grown’s boy/man bed, was picking him up to rock him?! What?
! There are so many better ways of explaining things to a baby. Definitely not this way

1.0 out of 5 stars Sad story...

I wish I had read the one star reviews! I succumbed to social media hype and ordered this book for my niece who just had her first baby. I am 50 and have never been a mother. I personally found this book SAD! I confess, I hate death, illness, and people I love getting "old and sick" so this book will be trashed or returned. Also the song doesn't rhyme which bothered me. I see the book is cherished by many...but I don't want to own nor give a book that shows how quickly life passes! Time goes by fast enough!! If you might be sensitive to that, do more research on the book to be sure it is something you'd like.
