Open Doors: Fractured Fairy Tales is a whole new take on fairy tales and nursery rhymes like you've never seen before. An anthology compiled from the work of many authors, there are stories about Hansel and Gretel, Little Red Riding Hood, Humpty Dumpty, and the Three Little Pigs. They all have a modern twist, and are at times a little macabre. Definitely not your children's fairy tales!
Open Doors: Fractured Fairy Tales is for adults who have a little of a twisted kid inside. Some stories will make you laugh, while others will have you hiding under your favorite blanket!
I really enjoy a good mental smile once in awhile. I was also brought up on Fairy Tales and Folklore. A back round knowledge of the original tales makes this book all the more humorous. Extra information on Authors of stories a plus.
The classic tales you remember from childhood have just gotten a face-lift and some have moved to Beverly Hills. Written by contemporary writers, this collection of shorts and verse, puts a modern and grown-up spin on the fairy tales of yore. The The Three Little Pigs go green, Jack isn't poor and Simple Simon has got a different story to tell. All the charm is still there, but the stories are more true.
Lots of different takes here on some old stories -- some you might expect, some a wonderful surprise. I really enjoyed reading these fractured tales, some with a modern twist, some with a punny twist, some with a weird twist, some just plain outrageously creative!
"Open Doors: Fractured Fairy Tales" is an eclectic compilation of clever, funny & imaginative (& sometimes, even a little scary) takeoffs on well known nursery rhymes & fairy tales. Give yourself and/or your friends a treat & buy this book. It was an absolute joy to read!
This book of short fairy tales is so witty and so fun. Who knew you could get such great new takes on the old "traditional" stories we've heard for so many years. This will make you smile...and laugh out loud. Must read!
