How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 starsGood book
Reviewed in the United States on January 29, 2021
Arrived as described.
We had read this at our local library and were sad to see they removed from our local branch.
Happy to have a price break as I have toddlers and we put a small tear in the first day and was relieved it wasn't a perfect, brand new book.
Is a good length for young children. Fun story and has been a hit with my little boys. We've read several times a day.

1.0 out of 5 starsMORALLY BANKRUPT (See all 1 Star Reviews)
Reviewed in the United States on January 22, 2020
The ONLY reason I’m glad I bought this book is...now that I’ve read it I can inform parents from my own personal experience NOT TO BUY IT. I wish there was a ‘zero star’ I could give this book. It’s goes under the heading of one of the most MORALLY BANKRUPT ‘children’s’ books I’ve ever ignorantly purchased. Please refer to all of the 1 star reviews before purchasing and save yourself your time and money on this disgrace disguised as a children’s book. You’ll want to throw it away after the 1st read.

Super creepy. Teaches kids to keep secrets, to steal, and to lie. Big NO from us. A book designed for child grooming. Utterly perverted. I let my kids burn it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not what I want my kids reading

A large step down from "Dragons love taco's" Promoting theft and keeping secrets for very young readers. I am in no way an over protective parent, am in my opinion well traveled and more than a little rough around the edges for my own liking for being a parent. However this book just rubs me the wrong way, to the point where I didnt even donate this book on when I read what it was about I just put it in the garbage. I dont recommend for young kids or anyone for that matter!

1.0 out of 5 stars I do not want my kid reading about how "secrets" make things more fun and encourages taking what you want

I despise this book and have removed it from my house. I do not want my kid reading about how "secrets" make things more fun and encourages taking what you want, even if you have to steal. It's a shame because I really liked "Dragons Love tacos".

1.0 out of 5 stars Contains horrible message.
Reviewed in the United States on June 30, 2019
"When you make something secret, you make it special" is such a horrible lesson to teach children, or adults. It is supposed to be funny and clever, yet there are some areas of life should be taken very seriously, and secret keeping is one of these things. Abuse, grooming, bullying, and many other negative behaviors thrive in or rely on keeping secrets. Secrets should not be praised.

We love "Dragons Love Tacos," but this one is a little too abstract for my toddler. Plus, I don't like the glorification of keeping "secrets" from parents because that could lead to danger for some kids.

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not buy! Secrets don’t make things special!
Reviewed in the United States on July 8, 2020
We received this book as a gift. I definitely wouldn’t have purchased it after flipping through or reading the reviews. The story is odd and doesn’t really make sense, but the main thing that concerns me is that the book tells children that when you make something a secret you make it special. This is a tactic used by sexual predators to groom children and not an idea I want to read to my children and put into their minds.

Editing to add that I am not a huge conspiracy theory person. I am someone who has worked with survivors of abuse. I didn’t even read all the other reviews until now, I just read the book and felt led to warn others about it.

1.0 out of 5 stars A few facts
Reviewed in the United States on January 5, 2017

The author Adam Rubin was asked by Saya Weissman in an interview on Digiday, "As a single, childless male, why [write] children's books?" He answered, "There is ... a subversive element that appeals to me. In fact, before I started writing [the first children's book] 'Those Darn Squirrels,' I was working on an X-rated comedy show at the Annoyance Theater called 'Dr. Amazing: Your Country Needs You.' It was named the 'Best thing to do in Chicago while high' by Time Out Magazine. So, despite my mantle as a children's author, my sensibilities are not exactly G-rated."

The book is basically about two groups of people. The first group has secret parties doing secret things that the second group objects to. Those in the second group are spoilsports who try to stop the parties.

There is an illustration with a slice of pizza on the raccoon's crotch (see attached photo), which is currently a popular concept on the Internet.

Lots about this book on the Internet. Watch the videos. Spread the word. Push back.
