Don't waste your money if you have pets, kids, or live in your home.

This review pains me to write, but I don't want anyone else to waste their money. I had a 7 year old Dyson that I used almost daily and loved. It finally died an honorable death. We had moved to a home with hard wood floors except for the bedrooms and the kids are older, so I bought a cheap vacuum. It lasted almost a month, so I ordered this Dyson. My farmhouse doesn't have a lot of storage area, so the compact size was attractive to me.
This this clogs every single I use it. Literally. Every time. I vacuum the living room daily and the bedrooms once a week. I also pick up big items by hand or sweep with a broom before i use it. It's not like I'm vacuuming a dirty room that has a layer of dust. I just want to get the dust and pet hair off of the floor daily because of asthma and because my kids play on the floor. It's so frustrating to have to stop cleaning, tear the vacuum apart, and pull out a small hair ball that would have never clogged my previous machine. It's not even one place that clogs. No, there are three places that can get clogged on this machine.
The beater bar lasted just over 4 months before the bristles wore out. Even though it's not covered under warranty, Dyson is sending me a replacement at no cost. I will give them credit for that because other companies don't do this for their customers.
The customer service rep said that the machine is made for small one bedroom apartments and not houses, so the clogging is normal since I'm vacuuming an entire house. That's not acceptable to me. It shouldn't matter what size of an area I'm vacuuming. It should be able to pick up a day's worth of dust and dog hair without clogging, especially since my previous Dyson could vacuum an entire box of cereal without clogging.
I paid too much for the machine to replace it so quickly, so I'll just have to carry some pliers with me to clean out the clogs while I vacuum.
If you have pets, kids, and actually live in your home, this vacuum probably isn't for you. I think it's best for people who live in sterile homes that don't have actual dust in their homes.
