Our kids love this book! The illustrations are funny and entertaining, and the story is spot-on. Chowder is a funny, bright, endearing dog, and his story about finding friends who love and accept him is the kind of story we all need to read. A great book!
My students loved this book. I knew it was a hit when I read the clAss the next book in the chowder series months later and most of them could still remember this book. They'd story is funny and engaging and extremely well written. Great for theme, cause and effect, authors perspective/ point of view
Our whole family loves reading Chowder. We are partial to English Bulldogs though because we have one running our family. My husband and I find it interesting that the author doesn't have a Bulldog because he certainly has pegged the English Bulldog's quirky and fun-loving personality in Chowder's character. We get many laughs out of Chowder and even more when we visualize our Bully doing what Chowder does. If you have an English Bulldog, this is a great book and even if you don't, it is still a fun read.
I bought this because we have a bulldog and thought it would be fun for my daughter. Its my favorite kids book to read to her and now she loves to "read" it herself because of all the other animals discuss in the book (Chowder visits a petting zoo). I've bought this as a gift now as well and plan for it to be my "go-to" kids gift.
My family loves Peter Brown children's books and I am happy to say this another great one to add to our collection. The story is cute and the illustrations are fantastic, I think the humor is intended for children and adults alike. The first time I read this to my 2.5 year old she was cracking up and asked me to read it again and again. I look forward to and anticipate more books by this author.
This is my husbands favorite book to read to our 11 month old. It's an adorable story about how it is okay to be different and the right people will accept you and love you for all of your quirks. Good illustrations, although they aren't what makes the story special. It's the story that is so sweet on this one.
What a joy to read! A delightful story of a dog searching for friends who will accept him. The illustrations are outstanding and captivate the reader with a professional quirkiness -- top notch drawings that highlight the uniqueness of Chowder. Two thumbs way, way, way up!
