I was thrilled to learn that Julian of Norwich was the first woman to write a book in English. I was thrilled to learn she was a contemporary of Chaucer. And I was thrilled to learn she was born before Luther's Reformation. However, since it was written in early English, of course, it was a challenge to read sometimes. (i.e. methinks and beseeches etc) Still, I love what she accomplished. I would suggest any reader start with the simpler version "All is Well" and then "Showings" before tackling this one. It will make the reading of her thoughts easier to understand. I find it fascination that this holy woman is someone I never knew about until now. She is a spiritual treasure!
