One of the Best Joker Stories of All
Reviewed in the United States on July 22, 2019
Scott Snyder's New 52 run on Batman is at its best (IMO) whenever the Joker shows up. This volume is yet another classic Joker story about his obsessive, pseudo-romantic relationship with Batman, and his twisted desire to show Batman just how much they need one another. Only this time, the Joker drags the whole Bat Family into the mix, adding a new layer as the volume explores what meaning the family has for Bruce. There are some visuals and set-pieces in this volume that are incredible, haunting, and unforgettable. The story plays out so cinematically that I have to assume some future Batman movie or show is going to have to adapt some version of the sequences in this. Really this is one of the best volumes of the New 52 Batman, if not Batman in general. Highly recommend it.
