Can I just say this book is amazingly addicting!! Our friends came to visit us in Oahu and they brought this book. We just moved to Oahu and we didn’t know much about the island. Andrew Doughty shares it all! From Lagoons, Dining, Honolulu, Waikiki and Beyond! Kind of embarrassing when our guest knew more about our home hot spots and history than we did! We were so happy when they left us this book! We strongly encourage this guidance to all!! I’ve already sent this book out to our next guest on their way next month! Thank you Andrew Doughty🤙
If you are a first-time visitor to Hawaii, this is the book for you. Don't make the mistake of staying in Waikiki and rent a car to see the real Hawaii on the windward side of the Island. Far too many people stay in Waikiki and leave feeling that Oahu is just like visiting New York City!
With all the social media and trip advisor and google search, I was disappointed in how commercialized the social answers were for Oahu. So I went old school in looking for a good guide book. Frommers filled the order perfectly with several themes and sound advice of places to see and things to do. It helped me relax as I planned our trip having such a reliable source to guide me. Very helpful guide book.
Ended up not using it all that much to plan our trip, but reading through it was very helpful. Got some good tips about traveling around the island. It does have some great information about attractions to visit and where to stay. Used it mainly to figure out where to start and then went to trip advisor and similar sites for the rest of the information.
This book is amazing. I love how it plans out your day to day in different increments and gives you NUMEROUS maps!! It's PERFECT for my trip. We have been to Hawaii 3 times before but there is always something new to do and it tells you a little bit about it and the hours, costs, website etc.... SO HELPFUL!
This tells you all you need to know about Oahu and the city of Honolulu. All the highlights are covered as well as the little out-of-the-way gems. The included map is a handy size and easy to carry in your pocket. I recommend this for anyone planning a trip to Oahu.
Great pictures, maps and descriptions. This saved us time and energy and added fun to our vacation. It had specific recommendations depending on how many days you have and was written by someone who has lived in Hawaii for years. Had some good restaurant recommendations so we had many yummy meals and cocktails.
Not the most comprehensive guide, but an excellent portable reference for anyone planning a short stay in Honolulu and Oahu. It fits easily in a purse, unlike most guidebooks. The guide covers all the most important and interesting sites on the island, and lists many good hotel and dining options.
