Best pineapple from a can.

The supplier varies between Thailand and the Philippines. The ones with the blue pull tabs (Philippines) are my favorite, a very acidic and sweet fruit. It's also what I can find here in the Midwest at my local grocery store. The ones with the silver pull tab have a little different flavor to them that I'm not as big of a fan of. I'd perhaps say it has a more tart mellow flavor. It's still a high quality Dole quality fruit. Nice to get a carton to just stuff in the pantry and not have to back up the line at the grocery store. I wouldn't recommend subscribe and save. The price seems to vary wildly at times between $10 and $25 it's hard to keep tabs on for monthly deliveries. I prefer to use Camel Camel and order in bulk. I feel sorry for the mail person lugging these to the door as they are quite awkward and heavy especially in larger quantities but it's easier and cheaper than me hauling it at the grocery store.

I have bought the chunks five times. The last case was not at all good. Two of the cans had defective pull tabs that broke off, but I was able to open the bottom of the cans with a can opener; all 12 cans contained a lot of inedible, woody core. Now the price is up about six dollars for this item, which is poor quality compared to what it used to be.

Nothing beats sitting on the beaches of Rio de Janeiro and having the "Pineapple Guy" sneak up on you and yells "AAAAH! BACAXI" (Portuguese for Pineapple) as loud as he can possibly shout.. He then takes his sword like knife and slices off a piece of fresh sweet juicy pineapple and serves it up for taste. Why does pineapple taste so good in Rio and also Costa Rica ?

I'm not in Rio any more and if you are like me and having issues with store bought pineapples that you have to core and cut and hope that it is ripe with with all the juice that tends to go every where when slicing then next best quickest and easiest option is going with a company that specializes in fresh fruits and vegetables. Dole Pineapple Slices are packed in its own juices and always taste like it has just been cored and sliced for consumption. Packed in a can but fresh and sweet once opened this product for me is the best tasting however nothing compares to Rio's Pineapple Guy's stash of pineapples. ...JS

The flavor, the size of the bites and the size of the can are very much in this product's favor. In fact, I rely on it. I have diabetes, and I am sometimes subject to episodes of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). I have discovered that drinking the juice and eating the chunks from the 8 oz. can will elevate my blood sugar without taking it too high. I carry a can of it with me whenever I go out. I now have it and Dole pineapple juice in cans on automatic order so I am never out of it.

Just Right For A Small Pineapple Upside-Down Cake

These cans arrived well-packaged and un-dented, were sold at a good price, and the sell-by date is very far in the future. These are just the right size to put in the bottom of a greased cake pan, add some brown sugar, and cover with enough batter to make a small dessert cake. The pineapple (use the juice in the cake batter as part of the liquid) makes this seem far sweeter than it would otherwise, and makes for a lovely treat. Bought two cases, hope this continues to be available here.

I have no complaints about the pineapple, but I am disappointed in the packaging. The pop top is convenient but not if it breaks. Also is it possible to make these cans stackable? It is highly impractical to have a small can that does not stack easily on a pantry shelf.
